POVERTY INDUCED LUXURY MADNESS

LUXURY I <3

As of late, I am completely broke. I am at that point of brokeness where looking for things in my usual price range (ie. top shop, new look etc.) is no longer exciting, since I know I can't even afford them.

At such stages one would expect me to crawl into a hole and stay away from all retail temptation, however, for some un-explainble reason being completely broke makes me luxury crazy, the more ridiculously expensive the better (obviously I can't buy any of it, but hey a girl can dream). Here are some of the items I have found that I LOVE while I have been on this poverty induced luxury rampage.

THE Judith Liber Clutch (Surely I should get one just because we share the same name?)- Embellished Egg Clutch Bag £4,350.00 <- FML but so prettyful
THE BIRKIN. The Birkin is without a doubt the Phantom Rolls Royce of handbags and no luxury dream fest list would be complete without it. Hermes Birkin Bag 40 Alligator Bag Bleu De Malte Matte $85,750.00- (holy shit I could buy a house for that much)
LOUBOUTIN. There are few things I wouldn't do for a pair of Louboutin's, they are an immortal fashion and I personally get more turned on by a flash of a red heel then by any man. I love it when classic brands like Louboutin break their stereotype and try something funkier, take a look at this HOT pair of kicks. "Make Up Trash" $2,495

TIFFANY'S PLEASE. I said nothing turned me on more than a flash of a red sole. I lied. Nothing turns me on more than the flash of a mint green box. Take a look at this GAWGUS "Diamond Lace Bracelet"for £166,500
TRENDSTER stuff I adore but couldn't find the price for. Not that it makes a difference as I know I can't afford them anyway.

loving Aperlaï's Fall 2012 Shoe Collection

Kimberly McDonald Too Die for Earrings. Sex.

OHMYGODILOVETHISBAG PRADA FALL 2012

oh wow. Balmain

OOOOOH the things I will buy when I (yes, inevitably) win the lottery ;)

SPRINGTIME BLAZING BLAZERS

BLAZER LOVE

The blazer- this year has seen fashion take a structured/highly tailored turn, mix that trend with new spring pastels and you have one of this seasons wardrobe essentials, the pastel blazer. Blazer's works with everything from cut off denim shorts (for a beachy/low-key feel) to pretty floral dresses (for a girlier look) and give any outfit a more high fashion feel. Here are just two ways of wearing the lovely brazer this spring.

THE DREAM "CITY CHIC LOOK"
The "dream" Blazer- Preen's Cutout wool-twill blazer for (wait for it) ,£1,170. Oh if only I had a thousand pounds to spare!

Wear (or imagine) with for a HOT chic city look:

1. Preen "Cut Out Blazer"- £1,170 2. Zara "Combined Silk Bib Front Blouse"- £45 3. Forever 21 "Mosaic Bracelet"- £4.90 4. Top Shop "Lisbon" £68 5. Ray Ban "Club Master Half Frame" £120 6. All Saints "Eagle Skirt" £195 7. Forever 21 "Mini Triangle Necklace" £6.65 8. Forever 21 "Angled Planes Ring"- £3.15 9. River Island- "Brown Zebra Print Tote Bag" £40

THE BEACH BABE BLAZER LOOK- Coming in at a more reasonable £60 is this edgy Top Shop number. Its the perfect blazer to add some edge to a casual beach babe look. (if wearing a t-shirt underneath make sure you roll us the sleeves so that the slits expose you sexay skin and not awkward bits of baggy material)
Blazer Beach Babe BOMBastic:

1. Top Shop "TEXTURED SLASH SLEEVE BLAZER"- £60 2. ASOS "Knicker Shorts With Mex Tex Sequins"- £45 3. Forever 21 "Crescent Collar Necklace£6.65 4. ASOS "FIJI Leather Tie Up Flat Sandals"- £20 5. Rock N' Rose "Peace Sign Ring" £10 6. H&M "Sunglasses"- £5.99 7. Abercrombie & Fitch "Dessa Cropped Orange"- £30 8. Rock N' Rose "Ivey Stone Ring in Purple"- £14 9. ASOS "Pineapple Bag"- £30 10. River Island "Mix Feather and Chain Earring" £8.50

I hope I have inspired you to run out and buy a blazer, and for those of you that are feeling strapped for cash check out missguided.co.uk and boohoo.co.uk for some cheaper options.

There are also lots of Easter sales on atm so don't miss out. ASOS is having one of their epic 50% off sales as is Urban Outfitters, so don't miss out! x

Platinum and Plastic- Whats hot this week?

Platinum and Plastic Debut!

I never thought of myself as the type to start a blog. And while I don't quite envision myself posting pictures of my self in pretty clothes, other than that I am not sure what type of blogger I am! I hope I can somehow provide a blend of fashion, beauty, food, love, news as well as hopefully some slightly more controversial/serious material. Hence the title Platinum and Plastic, this blog will (attempt to) be a mish-mash of different material.

Ok so now that the necessary (yet slightly dull) pleasantries are out the way, for my first post I want to give a sort of round up of whats hot this week in all the different areas I hope to dabble in this blog.

News
What caught my eye in the news this week, aside obviously form the continuing Syrian struggle, twitter racism,Tolouse capture and petrol madness was the Pope's meeting with Castro. The meeting was brief and friendly however, the pope made it clear from the outset that he intended to use the talk as a chance to preach Fidel Castro on the virtues of "true, absolute freedom."

I don't want to get into the details of my opinions on Fidel Castro's regime in Cuba but I think that under no pretext does Pope Benedict have the right to preach "absolute freedom" as he isin't exactly at the forefront of the freedom march both personally and as the representative of the Catholic nation. In terms of Catholicism all I need do is mention colonialism and the crusades to illustrate Catholicism's innate disregard for freedom. Personally, Pope Benedict isin't managing to notch up any points for freedom either, having denounced gay marriages less than 3 weeks ago in a speech to US bishops visiting Vatican city. Surely gay marriage falls under "absolute freedom" benedict? Hypocrisy at its finest.

Fashion
This week I am love, love, loving a new fashion website I stumbled across while on Facebook. While website advertisement usually annoys me to no end ( No! for fucks stay I don't want to pay 15 pounds to have my feet gnawed at by little fish) nastygal.com proved to be more than a pleasant surprise. The sight is based in the US but delivers world wide. While international delivery will cost you extra it is more than made up in the fact that you wont be trotting down the high street wearing the same top shop number as the girl on the opposite side of the road. The footwear range is particularly special, boasting some seriously fashionable kicks in a price range ranging from 36 pounds to 200 pounds. Here are some of my faves:

Mercer Wedge Boot - Leopard Pony

£69.37
 Gallista Platform - Yellow
£97.75

Kelsey Platform Wedge - Camel

£129.28

Shazzam Platform - Ikat

£99.64
 Brighton Platform
£36.58

Kylie Spike Platform

£156.39

Nasty Gal x Jeffrey Campbell Orion Studded Boot

£154.50
My other exciting fashiony web find this week is an accessories site with some really quirky and yet well priced items. Its called rocknrose.co.uk and is well worth a visit before it takes off and its prices sky rocket (What I like to call the Zara effect, I can just about still remember the days when I could buy a dress in Zara for 15 pounds). The sight features mainly fashion jewellery but has a great vintage jewellery section too. I found the website in a fashion magazine (can't remember which one now) in one of those "copy this celebs style"collage pieces that featured Fearne Cotton wearing one of their ring's. Another of their celeb frequenters is Pixie Lott. If its good enough for Cotton and Pixie it's certaintly good enough for me...

£9.00

£34.00

£16.00
Beauty
The sun made a brief appearance last week and while some of us were able to soak up enough rays to darken our pasty complexions, summer is just around the corner and lets face it most of us could use a little help before we pull on our summer dresses and reveal our ghostly legs to the world. For a non-streaky, natural look I recommend St.Tropez Gradual Tan and moisturiser. You should be able to find it at your local Boots but if not its on ASOS for 20 pounds. Trust me its worth it.

Food
My culinary craving this week is edible cookie dough (contains no eggs). It uses ingredients you probably already have lying around the kitchen, takes no time to make and I personally can't get enough, although beware this yummy treat is by no means light on the calories.

The easiest recipe I have found is from www.cookiegiftbaskets.com:

Ingredients

1/2 cup flour
6 tablespoons  of white or brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter (very soft but not melted)
- 2 tablespoons milk or 2 tablespoons water
- 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips (or use M&M's mini candies)

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl mix together both sugars and butter until smooth.
  2. Stir in vanilla and milk.
  3. Mix in the flour until well blended.
  4. Add in chocolate chips.
  5. Shape into a log and freeze for about 1-2 hours or until firm. (not necessary)
Love
This week I am giving all my love to my familia, seeing as I don't see them very often and it is easter and all that.

Something a bit different
I watched a documentary this week (loving Netflix's free month deal) that completely changed my perception on UFO's. I promise I am not crazy but James Fox's "I know What I saw" is truly an astonishing documentary drawing on a wealth of reliable first hand accounts from the likes of Generals and Government Officials. I urge you to watch it, even if it's only to dismiss it as crazy.
Song of the week
Has to be Box of Stones by Benjamin Francis Leftwhich, its the perfect chill song to study to (not that I have been doing much of that) and I am just obsessed with it.

Picture of the week
I am not sure who took this picture or how exactly I came across it but I like it, a lot (its my current cover photo and laptop background.) I don't know, it just makes me happy.
